Guide on adding mp3 encoding profile to Ubuntu after using automatix

If you just used automatix to add lame support to Ubuntu for mp3 encoding, you will probably notice that you still cannot rip to mp3 using the sound juicer application. This is because you need to add a profile for it using a gnome audio profile editor.

See this guide, they will set you up. Once you are done, you will be able to rip straight to mp3. You can then push the files over to the ipod at will.

i really can't condone mp3s, anymore. having recently picked up a proper amp for my headphones, i've started hating my entire mp3 collection.

should really look in to encoding in flac. it's worth the time/space.

ipods support lossless AAC I think. i'm sure it's a 1 to 1 transfer from flac to aac since you can always reconstruct the original WAV file from a flac file.
